Led by Carolina G. Herrera, the AstroSleep Lab investigates how the plasticity of integrated neuron–astrocyte circuits regulates sleep and its essential roles in cognitive processing. Using in vivo electrophysiology and advanced imaging, we have uncovered novel brain circuits that modulate sleep and sleep oscillations in both health and disease. Our current work focuses on understanding and addressing sleep disruptions, including insomnia.
